CLOROFORM

controlled madness

There are times when our beloved freejazz-bassist and metalfan Øyvind Storesund is not on tour with Kaizers Orchestra, maltreating the strings of his double-bass. In such times, he is busy with his second band "Cloroform" (treating his instrument no better though...). On this little site dedicated to Cloroform you can learn some breath-taking facts about this peculiar band:

What the exact concept of this band might be, you will probably never find out. The trio, which has formed around frontman John Kaada, makes what one could refer to as "rhytmic music". The instrumentation is confined to double-bass (Øyvind), drums (Bjørge Fjordheim) and keyboards (John Kaada). And then there are the partly contorted vocals of Kaada, who in 2004 released a studio album with no other than Mike "Divinus" Patton (ex-Faith No More, Fantomas, Mr. Bungle and Tomahawk) with the title ("Kaada/Patton - Romances"). John Kaada also composes soundtracks, friends of the Norwegian film might know his music from films like "Mongoland" and "Hawaii, Oslo".

Cloroform's music is somewhere between sweet pop music, rock and brutal noise. The live shows are as extravagant as the variety of musical genres that have been melted into this music of madness. Cloroform have already played more than 400 shows in Norway and Denmark and released five studio albums since 1998. Their new album "Cracked Wide Open" was launched on 28th November 2005 and is available in Germany on the Frankfurt label Waggle-Daggle Records. Early in 2006 Cloroform toured Germany for the first time.
