Welcome, fans and those interested, to the realm of the best live-band in the world! Kaizers Orchestra are six hot young Norwegians, who have set out to conquer the continent with mind-blowing gypsy rock, oil barrels, crowbars and 1001 wonderfull tunes. With this site you are given the chance to get closer to salvation by Kaizer-music. Note: some parts of the English section are in German. If you find reviews in English just send them to us. Write to kontakt at save-me-kaizer.de to hear or tell us more.
The Gentlemen have come up with some subversive activities again. How else to explain the fact that they upload self-made bootlegs on the net? Watch two of the new songs, that they played on the Eurosonic Festival in Groningen on youtube: Philemon Arthur & The Dung and Sju bøtter tårer er nok, Beatrice. What's more: Every Monday (until the tour in Norway starts) Kaizers will upload one new song. The reason: The songs would end up on youtube anyway, but often enough in a very poor quality. So the only way to provide the fans with a decent recording would be to create them themselves. And to stop the endless guesswork the lyrics are delivered at the same time on kaizers.no. Fantastic!!
The new year brings updates on our favourite band. Kaizers were invited as "special guest" to the Eurosonic Festival in Groningen (NL) where they plan to play a couple of their new songs as well. They have been working on the new material for some time now and according to an interview with the Norwegian paper VG the new album (probable release date: 2011) will have a new musical twist to it. Mister Zahl doesn't reveal more details in the interview, but he himself will be also entering new musical territories with his new solo album. "Monkey Do" will be out on February 1st under the band name of "Uncle Deadly". A new track is already on Myspace and you may become a fan on Facebook as well.
Kaizers will be live on stage on their "Studio Tour" in Norway. After that they will go to the studio to record some of the new material.
Last week Kaizers have spent their time rehearsing new songs in a studio in Stavanger. You may watch some impressions from the studio and an interview with Geir, Janove and Terje on youtube. In the video they mostly talk about about their trip as UNICEF-ambassadors to Rwanda, where they helped make a school more child-friendly. They will keep on collecting money to give more financial support to the project.
What's more, Geir tells on kaizers.no about his one-week-trip to Berlin where he also met N. U. Unruh from the German band cult band Einstürzende Neubauten. He also tells more about his new solo-album which will probably be released early next year.
Beloved Kaizer-fans! Save-Me-Kaizer is not dead - we just took a break for some time, but we will rock on. Here we go: The Gentlemen proudly present their brandnew, self-made homepage. The URL www.kaizers.no stays, but Kaizers have made the programmer redundant by taking full control over the site. In 2010 they will record their new album, which will be financed by the so called "Studio-Tour" in Norway. All paying guests will get a limited edition of the album when it's out. Thus Kaizers have again shown their inventive spirit in the times of crisis! Unluckily, no tours in the rest of Europe are planned for 2010.
Still: In 2011 in the Rogaland Theater in Stavanger there will be the premiere of a play, that is based on Kaizer-lyrics of the first three albums. The author is Tore Renberg and the title will probably be "Sonny". Of course there will be one or two Kaizers involved in the project as well. Exciting!
The "Våre Demoner" tour was short and intense, Kaizers are looking forward to a wild festival summer and Geir just can't let go of the camera. On youtube you may watch his latest documentary "VD Week" on Kaizers' b-sides-album-mini-tour. What a geeeeeza!
Kaizers have come up with another innovative promotion gag: Since yesterday you may listen to two new songs from the album "Våre Demoner" on www.sonymusic.no/kaizersorchestra/ every day.
"Die Polizei" (German word for "the police") is a song that never got to be on a Kaizers Orchestra album, but all the hardcore fans know it nevertheless. Few memorable shows ended with the funny chorus "Herr Polizei, Herr Polizei, nananana ...". Now it has finally found its place next to other Kaizerean rarities on the upcoming album "Våre Demoner". Geir Zahl has captured the making of the song on film; you may watch the result on youtube and enjoy it with a glass of red wine, even if you don't speak Norwegian.
Kaizers have come up with something quiet extraordinary: The album "Våre demoner" will be on sale in (Norwegian) stores for one whole week, after that you may only download it from the web. Read up on the details and the reason for this ostrich egg on www.kaizers.no (then procede rather swiftly to www.cdon.com to order the album in advance).
Furthermore, Geir Hellraizer Kaizer has discovered his until now hidden talent for shooting documentaries. His 25 minutes long masterpiece showing Kaizers' recording sessions of "Die Polizei" will be on youtube very soon. On www.dagbladet.no you may marvel at the beautiful work by watching samples of it.
The list of tourdates is growing and growing. Among others there is a Kaizers Orchestra gig on the Danskebåten cruise from Oslo to Copenhagen. It may be booked on www.rockcruise.no.
Yesterday Kaizers played a heartwarming version of "Die Polizei" on the Norwegian broadcasting station NRK1. Watch it either there or on www.drmowinckel.com.
The cat has jumped out of the bag: On 20th of April Kaizers will release a quote new unquote album. "Våre demoner" ("our demons") will be containing studio recordings of the following songs from a decade of Kaizerean rock-history:
* Medisin & Psykiatri
* Våre demoner
* Die Polizei
* Fanden hakk i hel
* Kavalér
* Gruvene på 16
* Den sjette sansen
* Señor Torpedo
* Du og meg Sonny
* Prosessen
* Stormfull vals
These are songs that weren't released on the regular albums for different reasons, though some of them had a life on concerts or in the depths of the www. According to www.kaizers.no there will also be explanations on the lyrics, especially made for those fans who know the Kaizers universe like the supermarket next-door. In an interview with the Norwegian newspaper VG Janove and Geir speak of having tidied up in their past with this album. Janove also talks about his clear vision of the future: he had this fascination for musicians who have always changed radically like Tom Waits, David Bowie or the Beatles. Kaizers would like to follow that path and people will be likely to hear it in the future.
The release of "Våre demoner" is promoted by a mini-clubtour in Norway:
29.04.09 - Bergen (Garage)
30.04.09 - Stavanger (Cementen)
01.05.09 - Oslo (Mono)
02.05.09 - Trondheim (Blæst)
Habemus victores! The decision took long but the winners of our trash-calendar contest were finally determined!! We were looking for this sentence: A world without Kaizers is like ...
Erzsébet G. won a bag full of Kaizers goodies with her apocalyptic vision of a world without Kaizers:
... one of those Sundays where you oversleep so much that you're actually more tired than when you went to bed and outside it's cold but not really freezing so you don't really want to call it cold day but in any case it's gloomy and there's that annoying drizzle that won't stop, and you suddenly realize that none of your friends is available and you've run out of coffee, and there's that essay which is due tomorrow, so you decide to tidy up your room first (in order to, as you put it, 'think things over' and your place is a mess anyway!), but then, under a stack of unsorted paper, you find your penpal's yet unanswered letter, so you switch on your computer to escape any pangs of conscience, but even the Internet can't cheer you up today, and it's 8pm anyway so you turn on television but there's nothing on and you end up watching some ghastly Adam Sandler movie wondering what life is all about and if this is really the way things should be.
And there are more: Melinda S. won a Gnom and a Mintzkov CD with "A world without Kaizers is like Christmas without staring at 26 random letters for several hours and considering this the most fun activity of the entire year!", Eva A. is getting a 250% album with "A world without Kaizers is like huge breasts without a bra!", Juka got himself a t-shirt with "A world without Kaizers is like a lover without a ...well, nice meat thing. Looks like a sausage." And since we liked it so much, Thomas is parting with his Kaizerean ax which will be going to Ina K's "A world without Kaizers is like 'Schnappi' on hot rotation on every channel!"
We'd like to congratulate all winners and those of you, who sent us all these wonderful and funny phrases. A world without Kaizers would indeed be a scary place!!
It seems that Kaizer-Fans are an enormous fountain of wisdom. You've come up with two quite sensible sentences and loads of good ideas! We're enjoying those ideas a lot. Send more! We'll let you know what we will do with the ideas that deviate from the idea we had in mind originally. Your work will in any case not be lost!
It is done! We would really like to thank those who took part in the probably trashiest December-calendar in the world. We couldn't have known that this would be the outcome of a crazy idea we had on a cold autumn evening ... However, we are not really finished yet! Those who have been collecting letters may now check their answers with the help of a little test. Having done that you just have to bring the letters in the correct order and add some creativity to it. Send that sentence to trashcalendar(at)save-me-kaizer.de with the subject "Trash ist gut!" until January 9th. We are really looking forward to your response!
Our Trash-calendar seems to be a full success and we hope that you are eagerly collecting the letters! Today we will give you more information on the prizes you can win. The Gentlemen have provided us with an exclusive Kaizers-bag (there are only seven of these in this world we were told) filled with all kinds of Kaizers merch including the latest 250% album on vinyl, a T-shirt, a scarf, a shopping bag, a sticker, buttons and - this is really great - a rarity which cannot be bought anywhere, the original Gnom album "Mys" with 14 songs (yep, the one with the snowman on the cover). The consolation prizes are another 250% album, another Gnom CD and a t-shirt.
What you have to do? Keep on collecting the letters and in the end you will have a sentence which you may complete as you wish. The most creative completion will win the main prize (Kaizers will be the jury). All the other participants will take part in the drawing for the rest of the prizes. We will give you the mail address to which you can send your creative suggestions later on. Have fun and good luck!
This year was a real Kaizer-year: the Gentlemen delighted us with a new album, two tours and quiet a few festivals. Next year will be a quiet year for them and therefor we have come up with something special: The Save Me Kaizer-Trash-Calendar 2008, for which we have given Kaizers a tough time. We admit that the acting skills of the Gentlemen are not always persuasive, but they have given their best! The result of the hard work is quiet trashy and we hope you will enjoy it (we also hope it works ...). What's more, since our site had its fifth anniversary this year we have prepared some nice prizes for you to win. All you have to do is to collect letters. The rest will be explained later on. So, get prepared for the Trash-Calendar and start here!!
This tour has deserved nothing else but the title "250 Prosent Tour"!! Especially the last two Kaizer shows in Stuttgart and Berlin were so brilliant, that the security in Berlin had to force the frantic audience leave the hall in a rather rude manner. From fulfilling audience's wishes by playing "Død manns tango", Micke From Sweden stepping to "Tokyo Ice til Clementine", happy singing on "Kvite Russer" to Hellraizer's metamorphosis into Jimi Hendrix on "Kontroll på kontinentet" - everything Kaizers did on that evening was just fabulous! Read a report on the Berlin show here (in German), and view some dirty pictures on our gallery. Again thanks a lot to Mintzkov, who were just brillilant throughout the whole tour! We guess there will be a lot of Kaizers fans visiting your shows!
... also the fans in Stuttgart had their share of luck. It was probably a blessing in disguise that the police had stopped Kaizers on their way to the venue because of the vast condition of their tour-bus, which had to be confiscated. So the band virtually had no choice but playing "Die Polizei" on that night's show. You may read an article on the incident with the bus here (in German). What's more, Kaizers let the show end with a romantic balcony scene by singing "Mr. Kaizer hans Konstanze og meg", which was filmed by Susi S. alias Konzertjunkie and put on youtube. She has also provided a "KGB"-Video from the show in Solothurn, showing dancing girls on stage and a rocking Hellraizer in the audience. By the way: Susi had the chance to celebrate her 100th Kaizers show on stage in Berlin. Thus she really has deserved the title "Konzertjunkie"!! We would like to congratulate her on this from the bottom of our hearts!!! To another 100 shows, Susi!
And last but not least we would like to give you a little hint that it might be clever to check our site on a daily basis from December 1st. We promise, something trashy this way comes ...
Dear fans, Save-Me-Kaizer has visited the gigs in Munich, Aschaffenburg and Düsseldorf and would like to recommend you not to miss Kaizers if you have the opportunity to get to one of the last shows. On this tour Kaizers present a mixture of rarely played songs (like "Frå sjåfør til passasjer", "Djevelens orkester", "Medisin & psykiatri", "På ditt skift" and "Dr Mowinckel") and all-time-classics (like "Ompa til du dør", "Bøn fra helvete", "Resistansen", "Delikatessen" and "Maestro"). Don't forget that they will probably not go on tour next year, except for some festivals ...
You may watch some pics of the Kaizers gig in Düsseldorf and the fantastic warm-up-act "Mintzkov", who have totally convinced us with their beautiful alternative sound! Geoff, go home! :-p
Kaizers have covered their favourite song for the Norwegian broadcaster NRK, you may watch it here! There is more to see on youtube, where Konzertjunkie has uploaded videos from the current tour. Watch Den sjette sansen and Tokyo Ice til Clementine on youtube.
And last but not least: the warm up act for Kaizers' upcoming shows will be the Belgian band Mintzkov. Hope they bring some waffles ...
The Gentlemen move in mysterious ways - but all these ways lead to happiness! The two gigs in Stavanger, with which Kaizers opened their 250% tour, were anything but ordinary. As promised Kaizers played mostly songs that one usually doesn't hear live. Both shows were opened with "Medisin og psykiatri", followed by "På ditt skift", "Fra sjåfør til passasjer" and "Djevelens orkester". Other secret hits like "Kalifornia", "Tokyo Ice til Clemetine", "Di grind", "Dekk bord", "Rullett", "Dr Mowinckel" and "Den sjette sansen" were played. It was a hell of a show!
View a small slide-show with impressions from the shows here.
The band will stick to their concept for the shows in Germany, only there will be slightly less of the "obcsure" songs than in Norway to meet the needs of new Kaizer fans as well. However, it will be worth it!
There are news concerning the live LP "250 Prosent", which is limited to 2000 copies and will be out on October 10th. According to kaizers.no the Gentlemen will also sell the record on their upcoming tour. The tracklist of the album will contain the following 10 live recordings from 10 different shows in Germany, Austria and Switzerland:
A Side:
1. KGB
2. Apokalyps meg
3. Container
4. Maestro
5. Dieter Meyers Inst.
B Side:
1. Maskineri
2. Volvo i Mexico
3. Enden av november
4. Sigøynerblod
5. 170
You may also buy the tracks at iTunes and other internet shops. Digital buys will include the additional live track "Ompa til du dør" as well.
Do you want to brighten up your day with Kaizers? Watch them do an interview with themselves on bunch.tv. On br-online.de you can also watch the Gentlemen play an unplugged version of "Den andre er meg".
Check out the rest of the tourdates. Our friends in Austria, Switzerland and Denmark have now gotten something to think about!
First of all there are the tourdates for the fans in Norway and the Netherlands. What's more, German fans, who buy their tickets at www.kartenhaus.de, may download the songs of the new live-vinyl titled "250 Prosent" - release date: October 3rd - for free (see also our news from July 16th). On kaizers.no the Gentlemen confirm that on this tour they will be coming up with some songs which are - if not exactly obscure - rarely played live.
By the way: Prosent is the Norwegian spelling for "percent" ...
Beloved fans, the tourdates for the German shows in November are out now. Soon there will be tourdates for the Norwegian shows in October and probably one or two Dutch shows as well. According to Janove this is going to be a tour of "obscurities" with songs that Kaizers either rarely play or haven't played for a long time. So be sure to check them out!
Some of us will be experiencing Kaizerean salvation the coming week-end on Olgas Rock Festival in Oberhausen (it's free and outdoors!). If you can't make it make sure you watch yesterday's recordings of the Gentlemen's gig on the Øya Festival. Janove and Terje fans, who want to polish up their Norwegian, may also watch an interview with those two and learn how the ideal encounter between a fan and a star should be like (say hi then remove yourself that is ;-).
Take an audience that is interested in culture and put them into a tent together with six Kaizers, let the latter raise hell and behold: nothing is as it was before. The shy audience has turned into a bunch of wild Kaizer-fans, stamping their feet and clapping their hands and asking for more and more Kaizer-rock. This is exactly what happened in Karlsruhe last Sunday. View some pictures of the gig here.
On kaizers.no there are impressions of the Gentlemen on their valley and mountain tour.
In an interview with the Norwegian broadcaster NRK Janove has announced that on the coming tour in autumn a live recording of the best German shows from the this year's tour would be available. The band had recorded all the shows from last tour on tape and would like to give something back to the fans in the form of a record. Why vinyl of all things? Well, because it was so old-school and consistent with the band's concept, and because it was a good way to get people to buy vinyl again. Yes, he is a good Norwegian Kaizerman with great ideals ...
However, we are looking forward to the gig in Karlsruhe on July 27th and to the mini tour in November. Unfortunately there is bad news for the Hanover fans: the gig in the Capitol has been cancelled for good.
The winners of our DVD-competition have been determined and already informed. Congratulations! The Norwegian Quart Festival has declared bankruptcy and so the Kaizers Orchestra gig won't happen. Condolences!
Kaizer-news for collectors: There is now a white vinyl-version of Maskineri available, limited to 500 copies and on sale here.
Yippieeeee, big pleasure on smaller stage: Kaizers will be playing in Karlsruhe on July 27th in the course of the world famous Zeltival!!
Dear (sweating?) fans, it's hard to stay dry in these tropical temperatures, so we have thought of a competition that doesn't require much physical action. Together with Concert Online we raffle out three Kaizers Orchestra DVDs. You remember? The Concert Online crew filmed the Gentlemen on April 5th in the Palladium hall in Cologne. Just answer this question: how long is the DVD of the show? Look for the answer here. Send us your answer with the subject "Kaizerschweiss" and your address to kontakt æt save-me-kaizer.de until June 9th. By the way, you won't find the DVD any other place than on Concert Online, no, you won't!
And while we sweat our pants off in the heat, Kaizers have fun in the cold cold North. Anyway, we hope to get official information on the tourdates in November soon. Dear Hanover fans: note that the new date seems to have been postponed again. Latest date is not known yet, but everything will be fine!!! Fin.
After the end of their tour of Europe Kaizer Geir Zahl gave an interview on norwegen.no . For more see here.
Save-Me-Kaizer interviewed Janove in Dresden. You may read the result on www.musicheadquarter.de (in German). The original English version will be posted here in a couple of days.
The official Kaizers Orchestra homepage announces, that ex-bassist "Mr. Say-no-more" Jon Kaizer will be replacing Øyvind Thunder for the next three gigs in Tønsberg, Lillestrøm and Ålgård: Thunder and his wife are going to have a baby these days. Congratulations!!
Some tourdates are already kind of known, but yet unofficial. For some people it might be interesting to know that Kaizers will be playing on Olgas-Rock in Oberhausen/Germany on August 9th, where you have free entrance!!
You may now watch, adore and bemourn the Amsterdam show from 1st of April on www.fabchannel.com. We thank Sarina for the tipp!
The pictures from the shows in Mannheim, Prague, Dresden and Berlin are now online. Yes, we had a beautiful time and we are already looking forward to November!
On www.phonotic.de and www.plattentests.de you will find reviews of "Maskineri", www.triggerfish.de sports an interview with Janove (all in German). We will add the new tourdates in the days coming but it is already sure that Kaizers will be playing the festivals Omas Teich, Taubertal, Highfield, Open Flair and Gampel (CH) besides 5000 other festivals in the Scandinavian countries. Stay tuned etc. ...
And the winner of the Maskineri tour iiiiiiiiiis: BERLIN!!!! You rock!!! The moment our Gentlemen entered the stage on last Tuesday, there was magic in the air, and the concert became a wild Kaizers-party (I am sorry I am not supposed to say gang bang anymore - or fuck - oh sorry Mister Youknowwhoyouare...). Anyway, Mister Killmaster was given gin by a fan and jumped into the audience which he had divided in half, Janove let himself carry away by the crowd and conducted and erected them in his professional manner, and the show's climax was definitely "Die Polizei". Of course the concerts in Prague and Dresden weren't bad either, make sure to come back this week-end for the pictures. For us the Maskineri-tour is now over, but Kaizers will be playing 40 festivals this summer and there will be a new tour in autumn. So, those who manage to remain Kaizer-less this year, actually will have no excuse ...
And now over to another love-story: Kaizer-fan Cem got to know to a nice girl on the show in Munich but forgot to ask for a number or an email-address. They "talked nicely" on the gig, he wore a black Kaizers-jacket with autographs and a brown shirt. She wore a black top and jeans and lives in Augsburg. We beg her to give us a sign so that we can play Amor. Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaazzzzze!
During our six heroes' sound-check some person of lesser honor served themself to: an iPhone from the first place, a Macbook from the second, a Laptop from the third. Whether a cup has been touched from the fourth, we do not know, however in the last bed nobody was to be found. Therefore, if you find these three items on eBay, let us or the Mannheim police know.
In spite of such evil the six musicians produced a commemorable concert. Especially Janove vibrated with energy. He declined explicitly to make love to each member of the audince (we were asked by one reader to write more decently - so today, we will) "I can't make love to you all, you're too many!" It is our opinion that he could and did. Kaizerly love poured from overflowing grails onto a yearning audience. The people rejoiced and exulted "Hallelujah!" that the Kaizers saw that it was good - three encores.
Epilogue to Cologne: we've been asked, when we'd write a critical word about Kaizers. Well, when there is reason we will think about it. Probably we will discard the thought shortly after. Even if not every concert can be a perfect one - we are a fan site that prefers any Kaizers concert over Scooter or James Blunt.
The pictures from the shows in Frankfurt and Cologne are now online. Unfortunately there are only few Cologne pics, since the filmcrew had priority ...
Janove
the lucky bastard!Here is a philosophical question for you: What's it called, when six hot Norwegians get on stage and fuck with the audience's head so thoroughly that they all have multiple orgasms in the end? In my opinion this would be a decent gang bang - and it took place yesterday in Frankfurt. At 8 o'clock sharp Kaizers entered the scene and delivered such a hot show that even the walls started sweating. Besides new material like "Maskineri", "Bastard Sønn" and "Enden Av November" they also played some good old rare stuff like "170" and "Sorti". And in the end audience and band came together (hehe) again by singing "Kvite Russer" - wonderful! So, just try not to miss tonight's show in the E-Werk in Cologne. Go for it dammit!!
Note: tonight's video recording won't be streamed live after all, go here for more details.
Dear Kaizers family! From today on "Maskineri", this genious masterpiece of mother nature, which we have been lusting after for so long, will be available in a record shop near you. Go grab it and let it conquer your heart! -- and then move your asses over to Frankfurt (today), Cologne (tomorrow), Mannheim (the day after the day after tomorrow) etc., so that we may eventually celebrate as one family. SAVE US KAIZER!! *roaroutveryloudlythensinktothefloorandsleep*
And another memo: The cologne show will be streamed live on http://concert-online.com/. Do not miss it, pleeeeeaaaaazzzzze!
By the way: You will find a nice competition on http://kaizers.konzertjunkie.de. Be part of it!
Don't forget: Kaizers Orchestra's gig in Amsterdam will be streamed on fabchannel.com this evening!
The pictures from the superfantastic gigs in Helsinki and Stockholm are now online! With Finnland we now got a new country infected with the Kaizers virus. Welcome to the family! In summertime the Gentlemen will return to play on one of the big festivals, so be prepared!
Bad news for fans from Hannover: The gig on 31st of March has been postponed on the 29th of August. The explanation given on kaizers.no being that the release of "Maskineri" has been delayed and postponed on the 4th of April.
At least the fans in Hannover and all those who can't attend any shows, may watch the concerts in Cologne and Amsterdam via live stream. Read up on it here.
And now to our Dutch neighbours. www.ratatoskonline.net is raffling 6 tickets for the show in "Het Paard van Troje" in Den Haag. You may enter by writing an email to info@ratatoskonline.net.
Hellraizer falls off the stage and survives, Rune hurts his finger and still keeps up the rhythm, Janove fights and beats the hoarseness, and the Kaizers-machine rolls on: After 17 shows in Norway Kaizers have successfully finished part one of their Maskineri-tour. And the second part is already due!! It will start in Helsinki on 25th March and Save-me-Kaizer will be there and report from the Finnish front.
Thanks again to everyone who took part in our competition. The winners have been informed. Congratulations!
Four young Kaizers fans were asked to film on the current tour during "9 mm". The recordings were done in the cities of Bø, Bergen and Oslo and you may now marvel at the result here. Do I hear Hollywood call?? ;-)

It so happens that Mr. Kaizer has gained control over more than a mere continent... A Japanese fan of Kaizers Orchestra has translated Kontroll på kontinentet as "Control international" into Japanese. Thank you, Ichikei Fukunishi! However, you did not tell us how large the Japanese fanbase of Kaizers is so far, as we think Japan worth a trip, or at least a tour, don't you? Here is the link to the lyrics in Japanese .
A certain, yet completely unheard-of Ms. Shirin K. has written a review of Maskineri. If you know German you can read it on www.musicheadquarter.de ...
Before we get to our new superfantastic competition you may want to go to our galery to view some pictures of the Kaizerean gig in Bergen: Kaizers came, bespattered 3200 wild fans with sweat and champagne and played a healthy and balanced mix of old and new songs. Bravo! Also, the fourth episode of "have fun with Kaizervideos" is now available on youtube, where you may watch Geir and Janove going superfunny (eh ...) and Helge mumbling something into his beard.
Coming to our contest at last: together with the concert agency KBK we raffle 2x2 tickets for each German show! That's how you enter: just write an e-mail with the subject "Volvo i ... (add the city here)" to kontakt AT save-me-kaizer.de until March 15th. Don't forget your full name and that of your companion.
You may now view pictures of the Kaizerean release party on February 18th at "Loppen" (translates into "the flea") in our galery. 100 Norwegian fans were driven to Copenhagen in busses to attend this special gig and see the new songs performed live. There is a video-recording of the song "Enden av November" from that show on the NRK/P3 site and some pretty cool pictures as well. More interesting links:
- a slideshow with Kaizers-photographies of Paal Audestad (click on "se bildene" to start the show): go
- Janove playing "Romantisk salme i F-dur" on the grand piano (look for the clip "P3 morgen: Kaizers eksklusive Ballade"): go
- A live-performance of "9 mm" on Norwegian tv: go
We're nearly there: Maskineri will be released in the Scandinavian countries on February 18th (all other countries have to wait until March 29th). But from Monday on there will also be a DRM-free (!!!) version of the album on iTunes Plus. On their MySpace site Kaizers encourage the fans to buy Maskineri on iTunes since it "provides the best deal out there for artists, and channels most of the money charged - directly to the artist." As a bonus there will be the song "Du og meg, Lou og din fru" into the bargain.
On http://www.kaizers.no/ the band also comments on putting up the whole album on Myspace. It was a service for the fans who may now check out the songs at home instead of going to the store. What's more, they were fully aware of the fact that MySpace songs could be ripped. As a result they have uploaded the songs with a lower quality. So, if you want to go for the full Kaizers experience you should buy the album either in a record store or via iTunes!
Let everything be today and go straight to http://www.myspace.com/kaizerso. There you my listen to all tracks on Maskineri the whole day!!!
... at last something nice for today: on platekompaniet.no you may download the new song "Apokalyps Meg" for free! Ragnaröck and roll!
On kaizers.no it is revealed that the Icelandic musician Pétur Ben will support Kaizers on their tour through Norway. In Oslo and Bergen this task will be fulfilled by the Norwegian ladies of the band Katzenjammer. And we in "Subscandiniavia" have to put up with old Geoff Berner again ... (there is a lot of disappointment and pain in this sentence !!)
Which band is going to raffle off 100 tickets for a special gig in Copenhagen including the camel-ride thereto in order to celebrate the release of their new album on February 18th? Right, that would be the Camel's - sorry the Kaizers Orchestra! Read more on the competition on the P3 site (unfortunately in Norwegian - for Norwegians).
And while Kaizers Orchestra are rehearsing like mad camels bitten by even madder camels to further refine their live show qualities, the Non-Scandinavian fan community should now take a deep breath: According to our information "Maskineri" is not going to be released on February 18th outside of Scandinavian countries but more likely at the end of March. We will let you know as soon as we have an official statement on this ...
While clowns, cowboys and drunkards are at large in our beautiful Rhineland (Karneval has begun!), Kaizers Orchestra's promotion machinery runs wild up in the north. On the gentlemen's MySpace site you may watch a new video featuring tidbits of the song "9 mm" and more comments on the new album.
Dear Kaizer community, on the pages of the Norwegian broadcaster NRK you may watch a nice and detailed video on Kaizers' recording sessions in Berlin. You will be hearing parts of new songs and watch Kaizers work.
On Kaizers Orchestra's official site there is more news in the English section. Terje tells a bit more about the "Enden av November" video, which was shot with the help of Inge S. Sigvaldsen who was already involved in the making of the "Viva La Vega" DVD.
What happens, when 115 Kaizer dreams with toxic blood and 9 mm long - eh - things and the son of a bastard drive towards the apocalypse in a Volvo in Mexico at the end of November? Well, then it's time for Kaizers Orchestra's official site to finally open its gates. Besides new Sin City design the site features the tracklist of "Maskineri". Important to know, "Du og Dine" is now called "Moment":
1. Moment
2. Apokalyps meg
3. Den andre er meg
4. Bastard sønn
5. Maskineri
6. Toxic blod
7. 9mm
8. Volvo i Mexico (not bad, me lad!)
9. Enden av november
10. Med en gong eg når bånn
11. Kaizers 115. drøm
12. Ond sirkel
Besides the band comments again on "Maskineri"'s new style which, as they say, is backed up by all band members and which they see as an extension of the Kaizers universe. Kaizers! We don't care!! Just give us the damn thing! Otherwise we will drive to Riat in our Fiat and never come back! (there is this German saying about having a clown for breakfast ...)
What will a couple of Kaizers do in Berlin while recording a new album? Well they'll probably make a beautiful black and white video for their first single "Enden av November" as well! Watch the video on the Sony/BMG site.
In an interview with the Norwegian daily VG Janove states, that black and white was one of the characteristics of the band, showing up as well in the colours of their suits as in their photos and videos. A black and white video also being more artisitic. Regarding the album Janove says that it was containing more beats and club music which would even cross over to rap and r&b. Still the oil barrels and the ompa were not gone, the band had only mixed the approved sound with new styles. The album, thus Janove, was more integrated and the band was proud of daring to go new ways.
Concerning the change of labels Janove explains: "It's all about adjusting. With every new album we go for what is best for us. There has been a lot happening in this branch of business, so it was the right thing to change the label. The giants get rid of people, and we didn't want to risk being with a label where we are in danger of losing fans. So now we are back to where we started, with a small indie-label (i.e. Petroleum Records)."
Kaizers will probably be playing on all the important festivals of this summer.
For those of yous who do the bore on this oneth day of the year we haves a pun for you to solving. But what do that meaning?? Yes, it meaning that Kaizer posse having new label yes they do!! And there will being many rejoicing! We now touch hand and sing all together now: "Bye bye Universal, hello Petroleum Records/Sony BMG!" Do reading on Atomic Agency site (watch out, Norwegian!!).
On youtube you may now watch a new video clip, which features a song called "Apokalyps meg"!! Besides Janove talks a bit about the new songs and the recordings of Maskineri. The Save-Me-Kaizer-Team wishes all fans, half-fans and not-yet-but-soon-to-be-infected a happy new Kaizer year! May you be saved by the Kaizer! :-D
The Norwegian broadcaster NRK is featuring a short clip, in which you can hear a new song and see a Kaizer do ballet ... :-)
As the gentlemen announce on their Myspace site, the Canadian with the drunken akkordeon, alias The Whiskey Rabbi alias Geoff Berner, will be their support act for the whole tour. Long-term fans will probably know Berner and his extravagant Klezmer music from former tours. Meanwhile nearly all Maskineri-tourdates have been announced. Accoding to those the European tour will start in the most beautiful city of the world: in Helsinki!!!! By the way a city and a country Kaizers have never played in. Kippis ja kaikkea hyvää!!!
No time to catch our breath ...: According to Kaizers Orchestra's Myspace site the first single from the album "Maskineri" will go on air on Monday!! It will be the song "Enden av November", also to be heard on the band's Myspace site from tomorrow (yeeeeah!). According the Janove it not only represents the mature and fresh side of band but also their whole musical range. But find out for yourself on Myspace! :-)
What's more, www.kaizers.no be offline for a couple of days now, "due to rehab" that is ...
Now it's official: The new album is called "Maskineri" (to be pronounced as "machinery") and the website www.kaizers.no has a brand-new and fresh design!! Congratulations!
www.kaizers.no announces proudly that the band was awarded with the Rogaland Bragdpris 2007 for brilliant achievements. The reason being: "Kaizers Orchestra have worked hard for their reputation as Norway's best live-band. They have a national and international reputation and have marketed Rogaland (a county in Norway) and the jærdialect, which is spoken in that region, in a good way." The award was accepted by Helge, who - according to kaizers.no - had already practiced how to accept it in the studio in Berlin.
What's more, Geir informs that Janove and he were in L.A., where they will start the mixing and mastering of the album in Mark Howard's studio from tomorrow on. It was still unclear how many of the 18 recorded songs would get on the album, but probably there would be between 12 and 14 tracks. Since they were a "no-hit-wonder" anyway, thus Hellraizer, it would just be up to how the songs worked on the album and what the band felt most comfortable with.
Dear co-fans, the concert agency KBK has announced the German tourdates for the tour in April. For more dates in other countries go to our on tour section. It's getting hot, my friends ...
Our report on our visit to Kaizers in Berlin is now online. The pictures may still be viewed here.
Believe it or not, there is news on www.kaizers.no again!! In the Norwegian version there is an article on Swedish guest singer Stefan Sundstrøm (beautiful face!), who recorded the song "Du og Meg Lou" together with his daughter Vanja in the Kaizer-studio. The song is about two old friends who look back on their wild life that was a series of love problems and jealousy as well. According to the news-article, it is not decided yet if the song will be on the album. In the news in the english section Kaizers get "funny" again, but read it yourself :-D
P.S.: We hope the studio report will be ready the coming week-end, however we will promise to work hard on that ...
It is only the end of November and already as cold as if it already was winter. The freezing Save-Me-Kaizer-Team is back from the trip to the cold capital of Germania and has brought along some news as well: last Thursday we had the honour to visit Kaizers in their studio in Berlin, where their fourth album is currently being recorded. You can already view some pictures of that memorable day in our gallery. Soon there will be a report on the visit as well.
Meanwhile Kaizers have posted some news on www.kaizers.no, where they talk about a spontanous recording session of the song "Butikken opp å stå" in the kitchen of the studio. In the English section there is more news on the shrinking problems of their producer Mark Howard! New song titles are given away: "Ond Sirkel", according to Howard a "kind of fucked up burlesque cabaret type thing, mellow style, pretty cool" song, and "Romantisk salme i F dur", which Janove claimes to be inspired by Wilco, but according to Howard more of "a traditional Kaizer ballad".
News on www.kaizers.no: some of the dates for next year’s Norwegian tour have been announced, and we also have the release date for Kaizers’ new album, which will be February 18th!! Two weeks after the release the band will start their tour in Bergen, the city where the band was formed. The Oslo show will take place on March 8th, while Stavanger will be kaizered on 15th of March only. For the moment the gentlemen are working hard on their fourth album in their studio in Berlin – even though some problems had to be solved in the beginning (e.g. a new mixer had to be purchased). Eeeeverything's gonna be alright!
Kaizers again on TV: On Saturday the 3rd of November at 1.15 p.m. the German channel 3sat will broadcast a documentary on the Norwegian rock music scene. And Kaizers will be among the bands featured!
Dear TV consumers, there is going to be a special feature on this year's Sziget festival on ARTE's Tracks programme. And our heroes are supposed to make an appearance of some sort in this programme. Read some details here...
Hot news on kaizers.no. Yesterday the gentlemen announced on their site that they are going to record their fourth album in a small, quiet, German city called Berlin in November. The Canadian Mark Howard, who has already produced albums for Bob Dylan, U2, R.E.M. and Tom Waits, will be Kaizers' new producer. Having checked out the orchestra's MySpace site he did not hesitate to get in touch with the band immediately. And even though he is used to better salaries, he and Kaizers have worked out a decent price that both can live with. The album, which is probably being released in February next year, is recorded in the Planet Roc Studio.
Behold! The pictures of the Kaizers show in Hungary are now online. We also managed to learn a bit more on the next steps the band will be taking: Kaizers will be working in the studio in November to record their fourth studio album, which is supposed to be released next year. A Scandinavian tour is planned for next March, the shows in the rest of Europe will most probably be in April. And this is our comment: O boldogság, o boldogság, egészségére!
Here's Shirin short report from Budapest: These Gentlemen are really and truely hot, in fact they are so hot they can make the rain go away, as they did yesterday on the Sziget festival in Hungary. Just three minutes before Kaizers opened the main stage with "Ompa Til Du Dør" the clouds that had been pouring down on us stopped and let the Norwegians take the crowds by storm. The Kaizer machine rocked and rolled over pepper-country so convincingly that the audience could do nothing but declare their love for Kaizers when they finished the set with "Maestro": "We love you very very much Mister Kaizer!" everybody screamed at the top of their loungs. Pictures of the gig will be posted here soon.
Thanks to Anne Hoedt and Katrin Koppe we can present you some impressions of the Kaizerean documenta 12 gig in our gallery. Enjoy!
Yesterday evening our heroes opened the greatest exhibition of contemporary art, that is the documenta 12 in Kassel. Although it was raining cats and dogs many hundreds of fans and yet to be infected people had gathered in the beautiful park of Schloss Wilhelmshöhe to watch Kaizers rock Kassel. In spite of some accidents on stage, including the stage lighting going off and Helge nearly stabbing his eye out with a water bottle - one shouldn't attempt to drink with a gasmask on - the Kaizers gig was the best thing that could have happened to Kassel... due to the heavy rain we didn't manage to take decent pictures of this gig, so if you happen to have some just send them to us. And last but not least: a warm welcome to all the new fans, there is still plenty of room in the Kaizers family!
Here is a bit more info on Kaizers' documenta-gig:
documenta 12 opening concert

Dear artlovers: I am sure you were going to visit the documenta, which is one of the most famous art festivals in the world, anyway. It will take place in June in the lovely city of Kassel (Germany) and guess who is opening the festival: The very same sexy Norwegians that are worshipped on these ochre pages. This is the third Kaizers gig in a year, that was originally intended to be a kaizerless one. Well, the Gentlemen explain themselves here. We would also like to thank Julika for the tip - and now we have to rush and empty a bucket of ice water over our hot heads...
There are two new articles in Norwegian and English on Kaizers' homepage. The gentlemen are preparing for the recording of the new album. Testing oil barrels is of course part of the preparations. The next months will also be spent on chosing the suitable songs from the already existing demo tapes, before the real recording sessions start in September. According to the articles the release of Kaizers Orchestra's fourth album is planned for February 2008.
Let's take a look back: In the end of 2004 Janove's solo debut "Francis' Lonley Nights" came out and went down softly. Now Mister Ottesen is working on the follow-up album: last week he recorded a demo in the studio. According to the homepage www.janove.com the second album will be more dancable, since Janove was done with the soft stuff. The music will be kind of "spy pop", inspired by Tarantino's film music, rock tunes won't be missing either. Until now eight songs have been finished, in the course of the year up to 15 songs are supposed to be recorded. The solo album will not be released before the next Kaizers album though.
Back to Kaizers: This week the Gentlemen are recording another demo for the fourth Orchestra album. According to Janove 90% of the songs for the album are ready. And there was mucho rejoicing!
And here is a link for the Janove fans among you: http://www.myspace.com/joottesen
According to kaizers.no the Jackal is longing for a bit of "circus", which is why there will be another Kaizers concert this year: The Gentlemen will play on May 4th at the Cementen in Stavanger. The tickets will be available at the venue from 7 p.m. on March 28th.
Well, it is still a long time til Kaizers play the Sziget festival, but at least many of the Kaizerean side projects and their friends are touring like mad these days (see tourdates on www.drmowinckel.com). The album "This ain't the End" by Micke from Sweden - who some of you might still remember as the rat-shooter and tapdancer on Kaizers concerts - was recently released and Master Janove has contributed to it with some vocals and instrumentals. The album can be bought via www.cdon.com.
If you feel like seeing the notorious Whiskey Rabbi aka Geoff Berner live again, you can do this in May, when he will be on tour with his American Klezmer punk colleague Daniel Kahn. These are the tourdates:
24.05. Duisburg - Pianissimo
25.05. Frankfurt - Das Bett
26.05. Darmstadt - Jagdhofkeller
27.05. München - Brückerl (without Geoff)
28.05. Kassel - Theaterstübchen
29.05. Osnabrück - Unicum
30.05. Bremen - Weserterrassen
31.05. Hannover - Feinkost Lampe
01.06. Berlin - tbc
Kaizers Orchestra has, despite the band's obvious Eastern European influences, never actually played a show in Eastern Europe yet. This is about to change: The Gentlemen will be playing at the Sziget Festival in Hungary on August 9th!
On kaizers.no Janove says: People have always told the us that we should get around to touring in Eastern Europe, but we´ve never been able to, mainly due to lack of finances, but we´ve always wanted to get down there and see how our music works out down there, says Janove The Jackal Kaizer. 2007 is a live year off for us, we start recording our next album in September, so we want to be real fresh for that, but this offer from Sziget was too temping to turn down. Sziget is one of the biggest festivals in Europe, and we have been offered a spot on the main stage on Thursday, August ninth, so we´re pretty excited about that!"
Well, there wasn't much happening on this site in the last few weeks, since the Save-Me-Kaizer-team had to attend to the more profane things in life. But now we are finally back with some fresh news. First of all you should check this site to read Janove's answers to some of the questions you sent us for the Ask-A-Kaizer-competition. Please don't be sad if you can't find your questions, since we couldn't get all of them answered (and not all of them were appropriate...).
And then we have some brandnew info given to us by Master Janove himself. The band has been busy recording a demo tape (not album) in the studio, which contains 11 songs. Two of the titles were given away by Janove: "Enden av november" and "Silkebånd", the latter being a gypsy song. The album which is going to be released in 2008 will not be a concept album. It will contain Janove-style storytelling, the big themes of the world will be reflected upon and there will be philosophical reflections on awkward situaitions in life. All in all the topics will be in the spirit of the Kaizers universe, which is so well known to us. Another demo is planned for April.
And last but not least: Mister Zahl, aka Hellraizer Kaizer, will be on tour soon, though in Norway only. Check the dates on http://myspace.com/zahlmusic. The same goes for Mister Killmaster's band Skambankt.
